Club River Trip Report - Sunday 21-December-2025
Trip Leader - Dave Paynter, Dave Thomas & Chris Woodley
10 of us gather on the 2nd of our introduction to white water trips. This time to the River Barle from the picturesque Tar Steps down to Dulverton. The newer participants were Patrick and Milo, having seen them do so well on the Usk last week we were happy to launch them into the rather long and continuous rapid at the get in and everyone coped well.
The river was at a good level (around 0.7 on the Brushford gauge) and there were lots of small rapids and bigger feature to practice on. There were tree blockages at Three Rivers, where the river branches (excuse the pun) had to be negotiated carefully with some walking.
Thanks to Dave, Chris and Andy for leading us safely down the river and rescuing the odd swimmer.
Great socials at a very nice Cafe in Dulverton for breakfast and a pint in the pub afterward.
